This loft conversion was carried out for a pair of semi-detached buildings in Saltash. The challenge for House to Home here was the scarce permitted development area of 50 cubic metres.
In order to overcome this limitation, we constructed two rear dormers with hip-to-gable loft conversions, and designed both lofts to be the same, so both buildings had a master bedroom with en-suite. We then installed French doors that offered fantastic views of the River Tamar. To ensure a seamless flow between the ground floor and the newly created second floor, a hallway was constructed to match the existing staircase and balustrade on the first floor. This allowed us to carry out a stunning loft conversion while still making sure the permitted limit of 50 cubic metres was not exceeded.
